Youth Day in South Africa was born out of the frustrated and blocked creativity and passion of the youth of the 1970’s. In reverence to these courageous youths we will celebrate the creativity and passion of the youth of today at our Youth Day Festival on Tuesday 16 June. The market will be open from 9am to 3pm

- 10 am to 2.30 pm – Mzanzi Marimba Youth Band – 10 of their top performers on marimbas, steel drums, djembes, maracas and keyboard. Mzanzi Marimba Band is a group of young musicians from Dobsonville Soweto, between the ages of 19 and 28
- All Day – Free Expression Art Wall – explore your own creativity on the communal art wall. A small donation is requested which will go to the very worthy youth charity of the Twilight Children of Hillbrow. Last year’s canvas was sold to an Australian customer and it now hangs in an Aboriginal Art Gallery in Sydney, Australia.
- All Day - Children’s Activities - there will be plenty of fun and activity for younger children as well, including candle making, sand art, wood crafting, T-shirt painting & ceramic painting. A small fee will be charged for these activities.
All of this alongside our usual market stalls, offering you a day of Fun, Food and Artistic Flair in a place of relaxed enjoyment for the whole family. |

The Biodynamic Association of Southern Africa has given us a small supply of the 2015 Biodynamic Planting Calendar for Africa South. If you are interested in aquiring one of these calendars, they are available at the market office at a cost of R100 each. Although we are well into the year already, there is still a host of useful information in the publication.
