Youth Day Thursday 16 June

The market is open on Youth Day. Thursday 16 June from 9am to 3pm.

It is 40 years since the fateful day of 16 June 1976 when the struggle for freedom of expression in the language of their choice was taken up by the youth of that time.

In remembrance of the bravery and passion of that day, join us at the market as we celebrate the creativity of our youth of today.

What is happening on the day?

Mzanzi Marimba Youth Band – a group of young musicians from Dobsonville Soweto on marimbas, steel drums, djembes, maracas and keyboard.  Their aim is to get you grooving and moving to their music! The group will be with us from 10h30 to 14h30.

Free Expression Art Wall – explore your own creativity on the communal art wall.   Join in on the fun  of creating our Youth Day masterpiece.   A participating donation is requested which will go to the very worthy youth charity of the Twilight Children of Hillbrow.

Children’s Activities - plenty of creative fun to keep children entertained including candle making, sand art, wood painting, wooden toy assembling, stone crafting, T-shirt painting & ceramic painting.  Prices range from R35.

All of this alongside our usual market stalls, offering you a day of Fun, Food and Artistic Flair in a place of relaxed enjoyment for the whole family.

Another 40th Celebration

This year the Bryanston Organic & Natural Market  celebrates its 40th birthday!!

40 years of providing a holistic, supportive community environment for the enjoyment of our customers and the prosperity of our farmers, stallholders, artists, crafters and musicians to earn a living and express their gifts.

40 years of focussing on the choices that we make to ensure the sustainability and good health of soil, plants, animals, humans and the planet alike.

40 years of knowing that:   Quality is never an accident – it is always the result of high intention, sincere effort, intelligent direction , skillful execution - it represents the wise choice of many alternatives (William A. Foster)

More information on our birthday celebration in the next newsletter.

With best wishes,
Glenda Moore
